DENOSA and SAMA Call On Nurses and Doctors to a March Against Poor Working Conditions in Gauteng's Health

Posted on: Tue 05-11-2013

PRESS RELEASE Issued by Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA)

The Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA) and South African Medical Association (SAMA) would like to call upon all nurses and doctors to the launch of the Positive Practice Environments (PPE) campaign in Gauteng province, which will take place at the COSATU House on Thursday 07 November 2013.
The launch will take the form of a solidarity march to the premier's office where a list of inconveniences and the current poor state of affairs at our healthcare facilities will be highlighted, which prevent the rendering of quality healthcare service by healthcare workers, and suggestions on how these could be resolved will be made.
The campaign is a call for all stakeholders in health to play an active role in coming up with solutions to the problems engulfing the country's health system. The campaign has been launched in 6 other provinces, namely: Northern Cape, Limpopo, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State and Mpumalanga.
The press briefing will table details of the conditions in the province's healthcare facilities, and how these affect the quality of service that South Africans deserve.
The march will also hand over two memorandums of demand to the premier on the two controversial laws, e-tolls in Gauteng and labour brokers, as these have a direct negative effect on the socio-economic well-being of health workers in the province.
Members of the media are invited on the press briefing about the march, which will be held a day before the launch, on Wednesday 06 November 2013 at COSATU House, 5th Floor, 110 Jorissen Street, Braamfontein.
