The French section of Medecins sans frontieres is recruiting for its project in Jahun: 1 Nurse Aid
 
CONTEXT: Medicins sans frontieres is a private, non profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in crisis, without discrimination and regardless of race, relegion, creed or political affiliation
 
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor patients in the ward during thier admission
- To adhere to work schedule as per roster and on-call requirments
- To treat all patients with respect and ensure privacy and condientiality
 
JOB DESCRIPTION
Welcome new patients as they arrive to the unit and help them settle in
Introduce them to the staff and other patients
prepare chart for new admissions
Encourage the mother of neonate to do breast feeding and kangaroo mother care
Health education to caretakers; nutrition, warning signs, immunization
Support nursing staff in patient management
perform and record initial observations; vital signs, weight and height
Explain the functioning of the unit and where the patient will be staying
perform routine observations (input/output, vital signs) according to patients status
Assist with setting up of equipment and materials as required
Inform nurse in-charge of any incident or concerns regarding patient status
Maintain skills and atend additional trainings and meetings as appropriate
Maintain the unit in a clean and presentable state
Change linen regularly as required by nursing staff
Follow waste management procedures by correctly separating waste in accordance with protocols
Follow standard precautions and maintain general hygiene at all times 
 
REQUIRED SKILLS AND CONDITIONS
Essential:
- Nigerian health care qualification
- Fluency in spoken and written english and hause language
- Strong work ethic; punctuality, responsiblity and flexibility
- Capapcity to work in a team
 
WORK LOCATION: Jahun MSF Base and General hospital, Jigawa state
 
CONTRACT: 208 working hours per month and roster flexiblity required
