Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) is an international, private, non-governmental, non-profit humanitarian organization. Our organization offers assistance to populations in distress, to victims of natural or man-made disasters, to victims of armed conflict, without discrimination irrespective of race, religion, creed or political affiliation. We have been working in Nigeria since February 1996. A Memorandum of Understanding between Medecins Sans Frontieres and the Federal Government of Nigeria facilitates this. We are at present co-operating with the Federal Ministry of Health, State and Local Government departments of health on various health projects.
 
VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
Job title: Watsan Supervisor
Duty Station: Sokoto - NERU PROJECT
 
Main objective and responsibility of the position
Supervise water, hygiene and sanitation (WHS) activities in the Nigeria Emergency Unit (NERU) project, use of monitoring tools and materials employed according to MSF protocols in order to improve health conditions of the target population
Description of the responsibilities/activities
. Ensure procedures for water treatment are applied; follow up on organisation of water supply and consumption, ensuring that all infrastructures are well installed and in good condition. 
. Installation of sanitation and drainage systems according to the nature of waste water.
. Implement waste water treatment systems. 
. Monitor sanitation and hygiene activities and infrastructures: 
. Installation of sanitation and drainage systems according to the nature of wastewater.
. Implement waste water treatment systems.
. Conduct planning and organizing the collection and disposal of medical waste during outbreaks, in particular: Ensure implementation of protocols for separation, collection, treatment and disposal. 
. Check that waste collection is carried out correctly. 
. Provide the right personal protective equipment for medical waste disposal.
. Train the team on medical waste management. 
. Perform the physical organization of materials and tools used in water treatment, hygiene and sanitation, in particular: inventory of stocks, receiving and processing orders for water, sanitation and hygiene material, check that the amounts received are recorded and monitor consumptions.
. Manage the WHS team in terms of: participate in staff selection and training and ensuring daily work is done correctly.
 
Specific Accountabilities for Project.
. Respond to Emergencies. Cholera, CSM and mass vaccinations, Set up, maintain all structures required.
. Ensure proper disposal of waste during and after mass vaccination, CSM interventions.
. Organising and Participate in the assessments
. Ensure proper control of structures, spraying and disinfection
. Provide reports of activities monthly during interventions and end of intervention reports.
. Participate in the Exploration mission.
 
REQUIREMENTS (QUALIFICATIONS):
Education: Technical Diploma, desirable specialisation in water and sanitation
Knowledge: Previous experience in technical works.
Languages: English essential, Hausa desirable
Competencies: Results oriented, teamwork, flexibility, commitment, stress management, good communication skills
