On 24th - 26th May 2018, Viva Technology will bring together 6,000 startups to meet top worldwide investors, companies & tech leaders in Paris, France.
Leading global pharmaceutical company, Sanofi is calling all Nigerian technology startups for entries into the Afric@Tech Startups Challenge targeted at innovators in the medical and healthcare sectors in Africa. The competition is open until 15 February 2018.
The Sanofi at Afric@Tech comprises of 3 challenges aimed at providing innovative and adapted solutions to improve access to medicines and healthcare in Africa. CHALLENGE #1: How can non-communicable diseases be diagnosed early in Africa?
Objective: In Africa non communicable diseases are one of the main growing health concerns, finding and treating people at early stage with new technologies can improve quality of life and even save lives.
CHALLENGE #2: How can Telemedicine improve healthcare access in Africa?
Objective: Africa has witnessed significant evolution in telecommunications. Development of telemedicine integrating mobile payment solution can provide better health support for people who need it via overcoming challenges of distance, time and lack of resources.
CHALLENGE #3: How can the education of healthcare professionals in chronic disease management be improved in Africa?
Objective: Improve healthcare professionals’ understanding of latest medical and clinical information (as well as advanced therapies) around chronic diseases so that they can better support Africans along their health journey.
Initiated by Sanofi in all African countries, this contest will help in identifying, accompanying and rewarding the best start-ups in their goal of revolutionizing practices in the health sector in Africa. The contest is free and open to all Nigerian tech start-ups. Applications can be completed online on or before February 15 at: https://challenges.vivatechnology.com/en/challenges/sanofi-in-africa
In March 2018, a jury will select, based on defined criteria, best African start-ups that will participate in this innovation journey. Selected start-ups will attend the Sanofi in Africa Lab at Afric@Tech. They will present their projects in front of a jury and will be able to demonstrate their solutions in front of the audience of VivaTech. The selected projects could also benefit from financial assistance and individual support from Sanofi, through a system of coaching and mentoring.
