PUBLIC NOTICE 
 
SUSPENSION OF PROGRAMME ACCREDITATION IN SOME UNIVERSITIES AND COLLEGES OF HEALTH TECHNOLOGY. 
 
Consequent upon observed gross deficiencies in manpower, infrastructure, equipment as well as processes, the Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria in exercise of the powers vested on it in the enabling Cap M25 LFN (2004) under Sections 4 and 13 hereby suspends the accreditation of programmes of the following institutions:-

The decision is to ensure high academic standards in these training institutions. which will culminate in the production of quality Medical Laboratory Scientists, Medical Laboratory Technicians and Medical Laboratory Assistants whose services can be relied upon for accurate diagnosis. 
 
It should be noted that the implications of this suspension of Accreditation are as follows: 
 
. The affected institutions are to cease admitting new students at any level with effect from the date indicated against each 
institution. 
 
. Parts I and II Professional examinations shall be conducted by Council. 
 
. Colleges/Schools of Health Technology cease to serve as Centres for Council examinations until accreditation is regained. 
 
. Failure to regain accreditation within one year may lead to students being distributed to accredited institutions with Council approval based on available quota. 
 
Meanwhile the Accreditation of Rivers State University of Science .and Technology (RSUST), Portharcourt and NKST School of Medical Laboratory Technicians, Mkar Gboko, Benue State lost in 2011 has been restoredbased on thge reports of the 2013 Accreditation visits.
