All applicants for positions at Paul Odili College of Medicine must possess:

MBBS or BDS at their first degree.

Relevant postgraduate qualifications appropriate to the position applied for.

Evidence of relevant academic publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals, where applicable.

Registration with the relevant professional regulatory body and possession of a valid practising licence where applicable.

Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students effectively and undertake academic responsibilities assigned by the University.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS FOR ACADEMIC POSITIONS IN NURSING SCIENCE, MEDICAL LABORATORY SCIENCE AND RADIOGRAPHY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for appointment into positions of Professor, Associate Professor (Reader), Senior Lecturer, Lecturer I and Assistant Lecturer in the Departments of Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography.

1. PROFESSOR

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science, Radiography from a recognised university.

Current registration and valid practising licence with the relevant professional body:

Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) – Nursing Science

Medical Laboratory Science Council of Nigeria (MLSCN) – Medical Laboratory Science

Radiographers Registration Board of Nigeria (RRBN) – Radiography

Minimum of twelve (12) years teaching, research, clinical and administrative experience in a university, teaching hospital, or research institution.

Must have attained the rank of Associate Professor/Reader or equivalent.

Evidence of substantial scholarly publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students.

Demonstrated academic leadership, research grants attraction, and community service.

Retired Academics

Retired Professors, Associate Professors, Chief Medical Laboratory Scientists, Chief Radiographers, Directors of Nursing Services, and equivalent senior professionals are encouraged to apply.

Candidates may be considered for full-time or contract appointments.

2. ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (READER)

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.

Current professional registration and practising licence.

Minimum of ten (10) years teaching, research and professional experience.

Must have served as a Senior Lecturer or equivalent for at least three (3) years.

Evidence of quality publications in reputable journals.

Ability to supervise postgraduate students.

Demonstrated contribution to academic administration and professional development.

Retired professionals:

Recently retired Readers, Chief Medical Laboratory Scientists, Consultant Radiographers and Senior Nursing professionals may be considered for contract appointments.

3. SENIOR LECTURER

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.

Current registration and practising licence with the relevant professional regulatory body.

Minimum of seven (7) years teaching and research experience.

Must have served as Lecturer I or equivalent for at least three (3) years.

Evidence of scholarly publications in reputable journals.

Ability to supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

4. LECTURER I

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D. in the relevant discipline.

Current professional registration and valid practising licence.

Minimum of three (3) years post-doctoral teaching, clinical, or research experience.

Evidence of scholarly publications and active research engagement.

Ability to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses effectively.

5. ASSISTANT LECTURER

Minimum Requirements

Master's Degree in Nursing Science, Medical Laboratory Science and Radiography.

Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of Second Class Upper Division.

Current registration and valid practising licence with the relevant professional body.

Demonstrated potential for teaching, research, and academic development.

Candidates enrolled in a Ph.D. programme shall have an added advantage.

PROFESSIONAL REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS

Nursing Science

Applicants must possess:

Registered Nurse (RN)

Registered Midwife (RM), where applicable

Valid Annual Practising Licence from the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN)
