Preamble:

Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Nigeria was established and licensed by the Federal Government of Nigeria to operate as a Conventional Private University in January, 2005. The University provides qualitative education with strong moral conduct without discrimination on the basis of nationality, age, gender, political or religious belief. It has secured accreditation from the National Universities Commission (NUC) for all its due academic programmes.

The University invites application from suitably qualified candidates who scored 160 and above for admission into its academic prorammes through the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (U.T.M.E), Direct Entry and Inter-University Transfer. 

All Full-lime undergraduate programmes run for 4 academic sessions except Law, Medical Laboratory Science, Public Health, Nursing and Agricultural Science, which run for 5 academic sessions. Sandwich Degree Programmes run for 5 contact sessions and Part-Time undergraduate programmes for Academic Sessions. Part-Time/Sandwich option are programmes marked with an asterisk(*)

ELIGIBILITY FOR ADMISSION 

1. UNDERGRADUATE AND JUPEB PROGRAMMES 

Applicants must possess a minimum of five (5) credits in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SAISSCE Examinations or their equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings in the subjects relevant to their proposed undergraduate and JUPEB (Joint University Preliminary examination Board) Programmes. English Language at credit level is compulsory for all candidates. In addition, a credit pass in Mathematics is compulsory for candidates seeking admission into degree programmes in the Faculties of Health Sciences, Management Sciences, Natural and Applied Sciences, Agricultural Science and some Education Courses. 

2. SUB-DEGREE (DIPLOMA) PROGRAMMES 

Applicants are required to have a minimum of four (4) Credit passes at not more than two (2) sittings in the relevant subjects in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SAISSCE. Thanawiyyah/Tawjihiyyah Certificate of any Arabic Senior Secondary School duly registered with the relevant State Authorities, Equivalent qualifications to any of the above-mentioned will be considered. Applicants for the Sub-degree Law Diploma Programmes must possess five (5) credits in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SAISSCE Examinations or their equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings, including English Language, Literature-in-English and any other three (3) Art/Social science subjects, and at least a pass in Mathematics. Applicants for Combined Law (Common and Islamic Law) must, in addition, have a credit pass in Islamic Studies or Arabic. 

3. SANDWICH DEGREE PROGRAMMES 

Applicants are required to have a minimum of five (5) credits in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SAISSCE Examinations or their equivalents at not more than two (2) sittings for Contact One (1), while applicants with ND/NCEJHND certificates are eligible for admission into Contact Two (2). 

4. PART-TIME DEGREE PROGRAMMES 

Applicants are required to have a minimum of five (5) credits in WASSCE/NECO/GCE/NABTEB/SAISSCE examinations or their equivalent at not more than two (2) sittings for 100 level, while applicants with ND/NCE/HND/A'LEVEL certificate are admissible into 200 LEVEL 

5. POSTGRADUATE PROGRAMMES 

(i) Postgraduate Diploma (PGD): Applicants must possess a first degree from Al-Hikmah University Ilorin, or any other recognised University. Holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) are also eligible.

(ii) Master's Degree: Applicants for the academic Master's Degree programmes who are graduates of Al-Ililanah University, florin, or any other recognised university, must possess a minimum of Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division) and must score a minimum of 50% in the qualifying examination to be eligible for admission. 

(iii) M.Phil.: Applicants for the M.Phil  Programme must possess a minimum of Second Class Honours Degree (Lower Division) or 3rd Class Honours Degree with additional postgraduate degree or 5 years work experience in relevant disciplines. 

(iv) Ph.D.: Applicants must possess a Master's degree with a CGPA of at least 3.5 on a 5.0 point scale, 3.0 on a 4.0 point scale or M.Phil. degree and must demonstrate adequate intellectual capacity, maturity and effective decision-making and problem-solving potentials. ALL CANDIDATES should apply early and submit their previous degree(s) academic transcripts to The Dean, Postgraduate School, Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin. 

METHOD OF APPLICATION

  1. Applicants for Undergraduate Full-Time Programmes are to pay N2,000. Undergraduate Part-Time Programmes N5,000, Sub-Degree (Diploma) Programmes, Sandwich and Postgraduate Programmes (PGD) N10,000 white Masters and Ph.D. programmes are to pay N20,000 to Al-Hikmah University Account, Bank: Jaiz Bank, Account No: 0002172833, indicating the name of the applicant with purpose of purchase 
  2. The application form should be completed online at: http://admissions.alhikmah.edu.ng
  3. All credentials and evidence of payment from bank should be uploaded while completing the application form. 
  4. Candidate must:-

a. Print the duly completed form. 

b. Present the evidence of payment to the University Bursary Department to obtain the official receipt. 

c. Present the duly completed form with relevant credentials (Original & Photocopy) and official receipt the Admissions Office for screening.

NOTE: 

  • Candidates who did not choose Al-Hikmah University as first choice in the 2020 Jamb UTME or Direct Entry Should change their choice of institution to Al-hikmah university through registered Jamb CBT centres. 
  • Al-Hikmah University grants admissions to all qualified candidates WITHOUT religious and ethnic consideration. 
  • Provisions are available for hearing – impaired candidates (I.e. deaf and dumb).
