The Joint Health Sector Union and Assembly of Health Care Professionals, Bauchi State chapter, has called off the indefinite strike which it started on August 6.
JOHESU Secretary in the state, Usman Danturaki, at a press conference held in Bauchi, stated that “there won’t be peace as long as the state government continues to tamper with their salaries”.
He, however, said further negotiations were ongoing to address the issues once and for all. Danturaki said the union declared the indefinite strike to protest the unilateral deductions made by the state government from June and July 2020 salaries.
He noted that they embarked on the strike after several failed efforts to draw the attention of the state government to their plight.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Finance and Chairman, Implemention Committee on new salary administration, Alhaji Umaru Adamu, said the biggest challenge of the administration was bloated workforce gulping state revenues.
