STAFF VACANCY ADVERTISEMENT INTO COLLEGE OF NURSING SCIENCES 

Pursuant to the approval by His Excellency, the Governor of Edo State for appointment of Principal Officers and Staff of the Edo State College of Nursing Sciences, Km7 Sapele Road by Limit Road, Benin City. Applications are hereby invited from qualified candidates to fill the following positions in Edo State College of Nursing Sciences:

1. Provost
2. Head of Department Nursing 
3. Head of Department Midwifery 
4. Head of Department General Studies 
5. Nurse Educators 
6. Midwife Educators 
7. Clinical Instructors 
8. Preceptors
9. Hostel Manager 

REQUIREMENTS: 

Applicants shall be professionals in the aforementioned fields and duly certified and/or registered by their regulatory bodies to practice in such specialties and holders of current practicing license(s).

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED FOR THE POSITIONS 

1. THE PROVOST 

The Provost shall possess the following qualifications: 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing and a Masters’ degree. Possession of a PhD would be an added advantage
• A teaching qualification such as Diploma in Nursing Education (DNE), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE), Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), Masters in Education (MED), etc. 
• Must be registered with the NMCN as an educator 
• Minimum of 10 years teaching experience including 5 years in Leadership/Management (7 years for candidates with a PhD) 
• Must be computer literate

2. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, NURSING 

The Head of Department, Nursing shall possess the following qualifications: 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing and a Masters’ degree. 
• Must have a teaching qualification such as Diploma in Nursing Education (DNE), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE) and Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), Masters in Education. (MED). 
• Must be registered with the NMCN as an educator 
• Specialty Certification will be an added advantage 
• A minimum of six (6) years teaching experience, leadership and management experience shall be an advantage 
• Must be computer literate

3. HEAD OF DEPARTMENT, MIDWIFERY 

The Head of Department, Midwifery shall possess the following qualifications: 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing and a Masters’ degree. 
• Must have a teaching qualification such as Diploma in Nursing Education (DNE), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE) and Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), Masters in Education. (MED). 
• Must be registered with the NMCN as an educator 
• Specialty Certification will be an added advantage, 
• A minimum of six (6) years teaching experience, leadership and management experience shall be an advantage 
• Must be computer literate

4. GENERAL STUDIES – (English, Physics, Chemistry, ICT, Nutrition, Microbiology, Anatomy, Physiology, Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, Sociology / Psychology, Biostatistics & Research, Healthcare Finance) The lecturers in general studies shall possess the following qualifications: 

• Must have a relevant first degree in their subject area and a Masters’ degree is an advantage. 
• A minimum of three (3) years teaching experience
• Must be computer literate

5. NURSE EDUCATORS 

The Nurse Educator must possess the following qualifications: 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing 
• A Masters’ degree and specialties such as anesthetics, pediatrics, mental health, public health, etc. will be an added advantage 
• Must have a teaching qualification such as Diploma in Nursing Education (DNE), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE) and Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), Masters in Education. (MED). 
• Must be registered with the NMCN as an educator 
• A minimum of three (3) Years teaching experience
• Must be computer literate

6. MIDWIFE EDUCATORS 

The Midwife Educator must possess the following qualifications: 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing 
• A Masters’ degree and specialties such as anesthetics, pediatrics, mental health, public health, etc. will be an added advantage 
• Must have a teaching qualification such as Diploma in Nursing Education (DNE), Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE). Post Graduate Diploma in Nursing Education (PGDNE) and Professional Diploma in Education (PDE), Masters in Education. (MED). 
• Must be registered with the NMCN as an educator 
• A minimum of three (3) Years teaching experience
• Must be computer literate

7. CLINICAL INSTRUCTORS 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing 
• A Masters’ degree and specialties such as anaesthetics, paediatrics, mental health, public health, etc will be an added advantage 
• A minimum of five (5) Years clinical experience 
• Must be computer literate

8. PRECEPTORS 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• Must have a first degree in Nursing 
• A Masters’ degree and specialties such as anaesthetics, paediatrics, mental health, public health, etc will be an added advantage 
• A minimum of five (5) Years clinical experience 
• Must be computer literate

9. HOSTEL MANAGER 

• Must be registered and licensed by the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN) to practice 
• A minimum of ten (10) Years clinical experience 
• Leadership cognate experience shall be an advantage 
• Must be computer literate
