The Federal Government has launched its National Health Fellows Programme, which will develop the country’s next generation of healthcare innovators.

The programme aims to foster the next generation of healthcare leaders who will play a pivotal role in enhancing primary healthcare delivery, as well as address critical gaps in the country’s healthcare system by equipping young professionals with the skills and leadership needed to innovate and drive change.

The programme will also bring together emerging professionals from diverse fields, including health, information technology, and social sciences. These fellows will undergo rigorous training, mentorship, and leadership development, gaining exposure to best practices within Nigeria’s health sector.

The Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof Ali Pate, who launched the programme, explained that the primary objective of the fellowship is to cultivate a group of highly skilled, motivated leaders who will drive meaningful change and innovation in the healthcare system.

“It is designed to foster a generation of health leaders capable of tackling the many challenges facing the country’s public health infrastructure. This programme is built upon the limitless talent, brilliance, and patriotic valour of our young citizens.”

He called on young Nigerians to arise as catalysts of change and take their rightful place in shaping the future of our nation’s health sector. “It offers them an unprecedented opportunity to hone their leadership abilities and create impactful, results-driven solutions in healthcare,” he said.
