To assist Lagos residents take care of their health challenges, the Bashiru Olanrewaju Oshodi organisation has conducted a one-day health outreach in collaboration with the Havana Hospital medical team.
The programme drew several people, young people, families and old persons from Surulere and environs. The participants undertook medical screening from routine checkups, heart, eyes, dental, prostrate, sugar to hypertension tests.
Several drugs were distributed to the participants, while patients with severe cases were referred to specialist hospitals for further treatments.
Speaking at the event, the convener, Bashiru Oshodi, said the group was concerned about the health, well-being and longevity of citizens. He said the group plans to broaden the scope of work in the primary health centres and expand the services to other parts of the state.
Oshodi disclosed that over 300 persons benefited from the free health services and his organisation had been involved in philanthropic gestures in the past ten years.
He has also been supporting schools and pupils with books and school bags, especially schools with health impairments and disabilities students as part of corporate social responsibility.
Among the schools that have benefitted from the donations are Opelle Primary School, Wesley Schools of Deaf, and Speaking Fingers Network.
Senior Medical Officer, Havana Hospital, Dr Chidinma Nwokoro, said the gesture is in line with the hospital’s mission to cater to and reduce the number of sick persons in the society.
She maintained that a happy, healthy and sound society will produce better citizens.
