A lot,  according to the leadership of the Civil Society in Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) can be achieved when the different categories of stakeholders all do their parts in the fight against malaria in Nigeria.

Speaking  at the state media brief on Global Fund Malaria Accountability and Advocacy Project,  in Jalingo,  Taraba state,  ACOMIN state Program Officer, Wubunna Ishaku Gofwen, also agreed that great results "can be achieved when the community is carried along in health interventions .

Calling for community participation, results according to him "can be attained when the communities participate actively in health interventions" stressing that "strong relationships and collaboration between the government,  partners and communities would fostered  the ongoing quest to eliminate malaria from the nooks and crannies of the state and the nation as a whole.

Optimistic that with all hands on deck,  the issue of malaria would soon be a thing of the past in the state and the country at large,  ACOMIN,  as made known by him,  has been engaged by Catholic Relief Services (CRS) under the ongoing Global Fund (GF) to implement the component which according to him would go a long way to prevent malaria.

Describing the collaboration as part of national efforts to address the challenges of Malaria in the country, under this grant as made known by him "are focused on accountability and advocacy " stating that " the initiative is focused on accountability for for commodity utilization,  value  for money , budgetary appropriation and human resource development. "

The project which he said is presently being implemented in the thirteen GF supported states "one of which is Taraba state " according to him is presently being implemented in five out of the sixteen local government councils of Taraba.

The project which according to him has "made great impacts in the communities in the five local government councils of implementation since it started in May 2019, he said is being implemented by Community  Based Organizations (CBOs) whom in his word, were engaged by ACOMIN "for this purpose."

Stating that the project has "awakened the consciousness of community members by creating a sense of responsibility in them" ACOMIN through the GF , he said has as well been able to "record many other success in the communities where this project was implemented "

Earlier,  the state coordinator of ACOMIN,  Mohammed Tanko Danburam, who took time to took participants round the activities of the organization in the state, said through the grants,  alot of public health facilities that were in the past being going cap in hands seeking for helps, have begins to receive the much desired attentions.

The five councils where the project is presently being implemented in the state as noticed by our correspondent are, Ardo-Kola,  Gashaka, Zing , Wukari and Jalingo.
