Katsina State Government Orders Extension of Lockdown on 2 Local Government Areas, Re-Enforcement of Ban on Inter-Local Government, Inter-State Travel and Restricting of Motorcycles Operations

His Excellency, the Governor of Katsina State Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR, has ordered for the extension of lockdown on 2 Local Government Area that have recorded new cases of COVID-19 infections.

The local government affected are Daura and Katsina, and the extension of the lockdown is to begin with effect from 7:00am on Wednesday, 27th May, 2020.

Governor Aminu Bello Masari said, according to the recent report made available by the national centre for disease control (NCDC), Daura has 14 new cases, while Katsina recorded 13.

He therefore, warned residents of the affected areas to stay at home and strictly keep observing proper hygiene and social distancing protocols, where interacting with other people becomes necessary.

Alhaji Aminu Masari also advised people in other areas not affected by the coronavirus to strictly observe and adhere to all protocols given by health/security officials such as wearing of face mask, social distancing, regular washing of hands and use of sanitizer.

As usual, the Governor has directed the State COVID-19 Emergency and Response committee under the Chairmanship of the Deputy Governor, QS Mannir Yakubu to identify Pharmaceutical, grains and essential commodities stores in the affected area that would be allowed to offer services to the people.

The regular review meeting with stakeholders, which was held and chaired by the Governor has also decided to reinforce the ban on inter-local government and inter-state movement while restriction of motorcycle operations between the hours of 7:00pm to 6:00am remains in force.

Governor Aminu Masari further directed for the continued operation of the Mobile Court to punish those who defy the lockdown order and urged security agents to ensure total compliance.

He however appealed to the general public for continued prayer, support and cooperation in the fight against the spread of COVID-19 as Government was doing its best to make the state free of the pandemic.

Government he said, was ready to lift the lockdown order imposed on communities depending on the situation in each affected area.
