Job Title: Medical Officer

Location: Abia State (Umuire, Near Umuahia)

Description

The medical officer onboards as part of our clinical team to provide excellent clinical care to our patients towards optimum health status. The candidate is innovative, respects patients’ rights, and is in tune with the application of modern health technologies to solving health challenges

Responsibilities

  • Perform health assessments including diagnostics interpretation for patients
  • Prescribe medication and create treatment plans for patients according to standards
  • Counsel patients and care-givers on appropriate health and well-being principles and methods
  • Provide excellent, evidence-based, patient-centred clinical services to all patients
  • Respect patients’ rights and maintain confidentiality  
  • Correctly keep clinical notes and other necessary health records
  • Make use of electronic medical records systems and other care-enhancing automation tools  for patient care
  • Offer prompt emergency and referral services if necessary
  • Maintains teamwork and works in cooperation with other members of the clinical and administrative team, thereby contributing to proper care coordination
  • Perform minor surgical procedures and provide post-operative care
  • Keep up to date with current trends in medical care
  • Support the planning and execution of preventive and community wellness programmes and outreaches of the hospital
  • Any other duties as may reasonably be required

Requirements

  • MBBS/MBChB
  • Current MDCN practicing license
  • 2-3 years post NYSC work experience  
  • Ability to work with little or no supervision
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adequate problem-solving skills
  • Ability to pay attention to details
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to demonstrate empathy and good patient management skills  
  • Computer literacy and basic knowledge of EMR
