In keeping with its commitment to fostering education and developing human capital, NLNG invites applications from eligible first-year undergraduates (2025/2026 academic year) for the 2025 NLNG Undergraduate Scholarship Scheme (UGSS). The UGSS is aimed at supporting exceptional students at Nigerian universities to excel academically and contribute to the advancement of the nation.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• Be a citizen of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and currently residing in the country.
• Be a full-time first-year undergraduate student in the 2025/2026 academic session at a federal or state-owned university in Nigeria.
• Have obtained a minimum of five O'Level credits, including Mathematics and English, in one sitting (WASC, SSCE, or NECO).
• Have scored a minimum of 200 in the JAMB Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
• Be aged between 18 and 25 years at the time of application.
• Must not be a beneficiary of any other scholarship, bursary, or grant from any organisation.
• Must not be a spouse, child, ward, or direct relation of an NLNG staff.
Application Process
- Apply online via https://nIngscholarships.smapply.io/prog/ugss filling all required fields.
- Upload a recent passport photo (no glasses) and copies of WAEC/NECO/SSCE and JAMB UTME results, JAMB Admission Letter, LGA Identification, and Birth Certificate.
- Eligible applicants will be invited to take a computer-based Online Proctored Selection Test. Note: only shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in this test.
- Qualified candidates will be notified to submit an additional set of mandatory documents after the test.
- Scholarships will be awarded only to candidates who satisfy all eligibility criteria and selection requirements.
Important Notes
• Application for the NLNG undergraduate scholarship is free of charge.
• NLNG does not engage representatives or agents to assist applicants with their applications.
• All applications must be submitted via https://nIngscholarships.smapply.io/prog/ugss.
• Applications submitted via any other channel will not be accepted.
• Applicants are advised to provide a functional email address and check it regularly for updates.
• Applicants are expected to possess basic computer literacy, as the selection test will be an online proctored test.
• Applicants are cautioned to be vigilant of fraudulent websites. These websites may request payment during the application process.
• Eligible females and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
• Candidates who require reasonable adjustments during the test by reason of disability should kindly inform us for our consideration. After submitting your application, send an email with the subject "Reasonable Adjustment" to [email protected].
• A 'Reasonable Adjustment' is a change that must be made to remove or reduce a disadvantage related to an applicant's disability when applying for this scholarship.
Additional Guidelines
• It is imperative that all required documents are uploaded correctly, as incomplete applications will be disqualified.
• Strict adherence to the eligibility criteria is mandatory. Failure to comply will lead to disqualification.
• Any applicant found to have submitted false or fictitious documents will be disqualified or have the scholarship withdrawn at any stage of the scholarship scheme.
• Note that NLNG is under no obligation to offer employment to successful candidates upon completion of their studies.
