PUBLIC NOTICE
The Reformed Forum of Pharmacy Technicians in Nigeria (RFPTN), the recognized national body representing all Pharmacy Technicians across the Federation, hereby issues this public notice to announce and seek support for the celebration of World Pharmacy Technicians Day 2025.
The chosen National Theme for this year, "PROFESSIONALISM AND QUALITY: PHARMACY TECHNICIANS AS FRONTLINE SOLUTION TO QUACKERY IN NIGERIAN PHARMACY PRACTICE," underscores the critical role our members play in safeguarding the health of the nation.
Quackery, involving the circulation of counterfeit drugs and unauthorized dispensing, remains a grave threat to Nigeria’s public health system. As highly trained and regulated healthcare professionals, Pharmacy Technicians are positioned at the crucial point of care to ensure that:
- Quality Assurance: Only genuine and correctly dispensed medications reach the patient.
- Professional Conduct: The highest ethical standards are maintained in the pharmaceutical premises.
- Frontline Intervention: They serve as the first point of professional consultation and control against illegal drug vendors.
We are committed to complementing the efforts of the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria (PCN) and the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in ensuring a sane and safe pharmaceutical environment.
The RFPTN earnestly appeals to all employers of Pharmacy Technicians across both the public and private sectors, including:
- Chief Medical Directors of Teaching Hospitals and Federal Medical Centres;
- Heads of Parastatals and Permanent Secretaries in State and Federal Ministries; and
- Proprietors of Community and Hospital Pharmacies.
We urge you to demonstrate support for the continued professional development of your staff by granting unconditional official release to all qualified Pharmacy Technicians to enable them to participate in state-organized activities, workshops, and seminars scheduled for October 21, 2025.
This investment in their participation directly translates to enhanced professionalism and improved quality of pharmaceutical services delivery in your respective institutions.
The RFPTN is dedicated to advancing a highly ethical, competent, and quality-driven pharmaceutical workforce.
