Update on FIP World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences

Posted on: Sun 19-04-2020

FIP has a duty of care to its members and volunteers wherever they are in the world. Thank you for all you are doing during this coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. We are proud of the entire profession as we strive to do the best we can in a challenging environment.

We know that many people are feeling anxious about the pandemic and this includes our profession. We are in touch with colleagues in affected areas and are in regular contact with the World Health Organization, globally and regionally, and our policy is to follow its advice, together with guidance from national states and governmental offices. Together with the FIP Bureau and the FIP President, the FIP chief executive officer and chief operating officer are reviewing the global and regional situation daily.

We are also in regular contact with member organisations with whom we are collaborating on planned events. We are continuing to work with our world congress co-hosts, the General Pharmaceutical Council of Spain, to do whatever is possible to avoid further instability in these uncertain times.

Preparations for FIP’s 80th World Congress of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, in Seville, Spain, continue in partnership and collaboration.

We will, of course, continue to assess the situation and will advise on any developments in the coming weeks and months.

In order to give everyone more time in these extraordinary circumstances, the deadlines for this congress have been extended by one month:

– The deadline for abstract submission has been moved from 15 April to 15 May 2020;

– The deadline for early bird registration has been moved from 10 June to 10 July 2020.

We thank you for your understanding and continued support during this critical time for the world, and we are here for any support needed by our members and partners
