The Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria, Lagos State branch, has warned Nigerians to stop patronising quacks.
The Lagos ACPN Chairman, Mrs. Biola Paul-Ozieh, said the practice had increased cases of drug resistance and abuse in the country.
She spoke at the 2016 World Pharmacists’ Day celebration and free health screening organised by the association at Eti-Osa East Local Council Development Area of Lagos.

“The role of pharmacists has evolved from that of a provider of medicines to that of a provider of care. They have a vital role in the outcome of the pharmacological therapies and ultimately strive to improve patients’ quality of life” Paul- Ozieh said.
The immediate past chairman of the association, Mr. Aminu Abdulsallam, urged Nigerians to buy drugs only from pharmacies with the PSN emblem.
He said, “Nigerians should buy and consume drugs from only pharmacies that have the pharmaceutical emblem, a green cross with a neon sign and a PSN number. They should always look out for the original license of practice, while that of the premises must be pasted on the wall.”
Abdulsallam encouraged pharmacists to stop buying drugs from open drug markets. According to him, they are the abode where fake drugs are circulated in the country.
