Communique Of Interprofessional Collaboration Symposium Organised By Nigeria Academy Of Pharmacy In Collaboration With Pharmaceutical Society Of Nigeria

Communique issued at the close of the symposium on interprofessional collaboration in the healthcare industry organized by the Nigeria Academy of pharmacy in partnership with pharmaceutical society of Nigeria on May 11 2017 at the Ade Ajayi Auditorium of the university of lagos
 
1. Participants at the symposuim were drawn from the health professions including medicine, pahramcy, nursing , medical laboratory sciences, physiotherapy and other professions via accredited representatives of the respective professional associations or societies. Keynote address was delivered by Prof Eyitayo Lambo, former minister of health
 
2 Participants affirmed that across the world, core emphasis is now placed on the patient as the central and most important consideration in healthcare delivery
 
3. Participants agreed that it is only when helathcare professionals collaborate that Nigerians can truyly optmize the benefits of the health care industry in all facets of healthcare delivery
 
4. Participants agreed that it is only when healthcare professionals collaborate that Nigerians can truly optimize the benefits of the healthcare industry in all facets of healthcare delivery
 
5. Particpants agreed that purposeful collaboration would entail all health professionals embracing a culture of teamwork that is founded on trust, mutual respect and almost importantly, the overall needs of the patient
 
6. Participants resolved to take the message of teamwork and collaboration to broader sections of the various health professions and help inspire the emergency of a new culture of collaboration in Nigeria's healthcare industry
 
7. Participants agreed that Teamwork and collaboration be introduced in the training curricula of helathcare professionals
 
8. Participants resolved to set up a working committee to follow-up on the gains of the symposium
