Delta Govt Moves to Make DELSUTH Medical Tourism Destination, Commits N200,Million

In a bid to make Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DELSUTH), Oghara, as the preferred destination for medical tourism in Nigeria, the state government committed N200, million.
 
Speaking, Tuesday at a media interactive session in Asaba, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa said the sum of N100 million has been disbursed, while another N100 million would be released in a couple of weeks.
 
“We are giving a grant of N100 million naira to the Delta State University Teaching Hospital (DESUTH), Oghara to enable them put the place in a more favourable state as a preferred medical tourism destination,” the governor said.
 
On Delta State Health Contributory Commissio, Okowa  said that “We commissioned the Abavo  hospital and Ogidigben where work was suspended, work has resumed and  we are also doing renovation work in Bomadi hospital and Agbor Central hospital;  the Delta State Health Contributory Commission is fully established and key  personnel have been appointed and as at today we have commenced registration  and rendering of services to our pregnant women and children under 5 in our  various secondary health institutions.”
 
He stressed that his administration was not relenting in the funding of the health sector, adding that, “as at today, we have registered over 4,312 pregnant women and 8,546 children and are accessing treatment through the health Commission.”
