#JOHESUStrike2018 Update: JOHESU/AHPA Reacts To @PoliceNG Brutality On Memebrs At FMC Owerri

The attention of Joint Health Sector Unions (JOHESU), and Assembly of Healthcare Professional Associations (AHPA) Leadership has been drawn to the use of Police by Federal Government to brutalize our members who were on lawful picketing at Federal Medical Centre, Owerri.

This action of the Nigeria Police is barbaric, unprofessional and unconventional in the 21st century. We know that the intention of Government is to push our members to resort to violence. This must be resisted.

We call on the relevant security agencies to be civil, and put the interest Of people first as suppression and intimidation of our members will only escalate the already precarious situation.

We have also noted the action of the CMDs and MDs in conniving with the Nigeria Police to intimidate our members rather than proffering genuine solution to the glaring injustice.

We urge our members not to be intimidated by this divisive barbaric action aimed at frustrating the on-going Nation wide strike action.

We assure all members that the leadership of JOHESU is taking necessary steps to call the situation to order and also Prevent subsequent occurrence.

We wish to warn that this type of unnecessary provocation from the Nigeria Police will only exacerbate the already charged atmosphere which will do one any good
