Lagos The Lagos University Teaching Hospital, LUTH, Idi Araba Lagos has dismissed the call by the Lagos State branch of the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, asking this Federal Government to remove the institution's Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chris Bode from office.

Earlier in the week, the leadership of the Lagos NMA has urged President Mohammadu Buhari to sack Bode, and another medical director of a tertiarty health institution, fopr violation of civil service rules on retirement age among others.

But in a statement, the LUTH Corporate Services Department described the call as baseless and a frivolous attempt by some disgruntled person to disrupt activiteis within the busy tertiary health institution.

"We have watched with keen interestthe strident noise of the few jobless persons who go around creating false troubles at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital serveral months after the appointment of the new Chief Medical Director.

"The NMA does not appoint LUTH CMD and he is not answerable to Lagos State NMA, That is the exclusive preserve of the President and Commander in Chief od the Armed Forces. Each CMD serves his tenure at the pleasure of the President. Lagos State NMA has no role to play in the process.

The statement pointed out that the Chief Medical Director drew the anger of the Lagos State NMA because LUTH remained open to serve Nigerians during the last ill-fated  6-week resident doctors' strike action over "skipping allowance" from July to August, 2015

"This was the first in a long time that other Hospital workers said.
