Associate Director - Program Implementation

Job Summary / Responsibilities:
The Associate Director, Program Implementation under the supervision of the Chief of Party will oversee MAPS operations at the state level.  The AD will directly supervise State Program Coordinators at state level, and through them, the technical staff assigned to each project state office.
Basic Function:
•  The AD plays a critical role as the link between policy and general direction from the federal level and project coordination perspective.
•    S/He oversees the implementation and execution at the State, LGA, and community level in the project’s focus state offices.
•  The AD will play a crucial role in channeling feedback from activities that take place at the grassroots level, not only to inform and influence national policy and overall MAPS project direction, but also to ensure that technical, programmatic, and capacity building activities at the state level are effective and responsive to local needs.
•  S/He will develop and maintain partnerships with key state’s stakeholders, particularly at the State government level, to build ownership of communication and community mobilization initiatives.
Qualifications:
•  A background in Public Health (preferably malaria or infectious diseases) experience in Nigeria including working in or with government agencies at the local, state and/or national levels.
•  MSc or PhD in Public Health, development studies or related field is an added advantage.
•  At least 7-9 years relevant experience with demonstrated management and supervisory capability in leading large and complex field-based and donor-funded public health projects involving staff of diverse, multi-cultural backgrounds.
•  Experience in interacting with technical Health Organization and International Donor Agencies.
