Nursing and Midwifery Council Of Nigeria (NMCN) Adopts OSCE As Part Of Qualifying Examination For Nurses

The Nursing and Midwifery Council Of Nigeria (NMCN) has adopted "OSCE As Part Of Qualifying Examination For Nurses". This was contained in a memo dated 2nd January 2018, find below, the obtained memo containing the details of this information:
 
INTRODUCTION OF OBJECTIVE STRUCTURED CLINICAL EXAMINATION (OSCE) FOR PROFESSIONAL EXAMINATION FOR GENERAL NURSES 
 
The Board of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria at its 43rd General Meeting held 18th - 19th December, 2017 approved the Introduction of Objective Structured Clinical Examination for General Nursing Programme. 
 
In the light of the above, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria has concluded preparations for application of Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) for Professional Examination for General Nurses. This Initiative is in line with the Council's core mandate of regulating nursing education and practice in Nigeria in alignment with global best practices. 
 
The implementation ()SCE would begin in May 2018 Professional Examination for General Nurses. 
 
Consequently. a-3day sensitization workshop on the implementation strategy would be organized at four (4) strategic centres in February 2018 for the prospective Council Examiners. Lecturers. Nurse Educators. Tutors and Clinical Instructors. 
 
The essence of the workshop is to adequately impact the knowledge of the implementation strategies to the prospective Examiners/Lecturers/Tutors and Clinical Instructors of Nursing training institutions. 
 
The details of the workshop will be publicized in due course.
