School of Health Information Management Admissions at Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals

Applications are invited for admission into the School of Health Information Management for a 2 year programme leading to the award of the National Diploma (ND) and the 2 year programme leading to the award of the Higher National Diploma (HND) of the Health Records Officers Registration Board of Nigeria (HRORBN). The programme is to commence in September, 2016.

 

ENTRY QUALIFICATION

Candidates seeking for ND admission must have obtained the minimum entry requirement of five (5) credits at not more than two sittings in theWASC/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB in the following subjects,

  1. English Language, Mathematics, Biology/Health Science, Chemistry and any other subject such as Physics, Agric Science, Geography and Economics.
  2. Candidates must sit for the 2016 JAMB examination and must have obtained the cutoff point [i.e.180 upward] and chosen the school in JAMB application.
  3. Candidates who sat for the year 2016 UTME and possess the above entry qualifications with not less that 180 total scores and who also have flair for Health Information Management can also apply.
  4. Candidates intending to pursue the 2-year HND programme must have obtained in addition to 5 credits at O’levels, the National Diploma Certificate (not below Lower Credit) in Health Information Management, together with an evidence of completion of one year (compulsory) Industrial Attachment in a reputable health institution.
  5. Professional Diploma/Technician Certificate in Health Information Management by HRORBN can also apply for HND programme.
  6. Pregnancy is not allowed during training

CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION

Selection of candidates will be based on the possession of requisite academic qualification and good performance in the screening exercise.

 

HND candidate are also to undergo similar screening exercise in addition to the possession of requisite academic qualification stated under entry qualification. Selected candidates will be required to pass the medical fitness examination.

 

OPPORTUNITY: Upon completion of the course, graduates of the school are to participate at the National Youth Service Corps Scheme [NYSC] of the Federal Government.

 

METHODS OF APPLICATION

Interested candidates are to pay a non-refundable fee of N2,500 to OAUTHC, Ile-Ife Account Number 1018206321 at UBA Bank OAU Branch, Ile-Ife, on presentation of the receipt for payment, application forms are to be collected from the office of:

Completed application forms must be returned to the Ag. HEAD OF SCHOOL not later than 3rd August, 2016. Screening exercise for all applicants comes up on Wednesday 10th August, 2016 in the school’s premises by 9.00am, while successful candidates will sit for oral interview the following day; Thursday 11th August, 2016
