RE: NOTICE OF FIFTEEN (15) DAYS ULTIMATUM AND COMMENCEMENT OF AN INDEFINITE STRIKE ACTION BY THE JOINT HEALTH SECTOR UNION (JOHESU): MATTERS ARISING

The attention of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA has been drawn to the Communique and strike notice issued by the JOHESU and AIIPA dated 2nd September, 2021 which was widely reported in the electronic and print media. This rejoinder has become necessary to inform and enlighten the public and government to disabuse their mind on JOHESU’s faulty and misleading submissions. We observe as follows:

1. ADJUSTMENT OF CONHESS scale as was done for CONMESS scale:

The much taunted Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) by JOHESU dated 6th of December 2018, duly signed by JOHESU representatives and their counsel had CONHESS upward review as item No.2. the RESOLUTION read: Negotiation still ongoing while the ACTION column read: There is no consensus on this issue. It is on record that JOHESU had approached the industrial Arbitration Panel and the National Industrial Court of Nigeria (NICN) on pay parity with medical doctors without success.
