The Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP) formerly known as Nigerian Union of Pharmacists, Medical Technologists and Professions Allied to Medicine (NUPMPTAM) was established in1978 during trade unions restructuring in Nigeria. Its certificate of registration was issued on the 15th of August, 1984 by the Registrar of Trade Unions at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment. The union is made up of professionals in the health sector such as: Pharmacy, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography, Dietetics, Dental Technology Occupational Therapy, Health Information Management, Nutrition, Social Work, Speech Therapy, Dental Therapy, Optometry, Clinical Psychology, Prosthetics/Orthotics, Medical Physics, Audiology, EEG and ECG Specialists.

The National Leadership of our union request the intervention of Your Excellency’s to bring to book all those involved in the unwarranted attacks on our members and other health workers including destructions of health facilities at the Federal Medical Centre, Lokoja by disgruntled elements suspected to be political thugs on July 1, 2020.

Also, that Your Excellency calls to order Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State on his unpatriotic position with respect to the ravaging COVID -19 pandemic that is presently affecting the whole World. Some of his words and actions are capable of jeopardizing the genuine efforts of the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 to ensure that the novel virus is contained from spreading astronomically to all parts of the countries with its adverse fatality and consequences

As a union, we shall continue to encourage our members and other health workers both on the frontlines of fighting the novel coronavirus and those at the health facilities nationwide, to give in their best at this trying period. The union would be elated if this discouraging posture in Kogi State is addressed now.

Please, accept the assurances of the highest regards of the National Leadership of our union at all times.

Yours in service,

Comrade (Dr.) O.C Ogbonna               Comrade Martin Adekunle Egbanubi

National President                                            General Secretary
