The Honourable Minister of Labour and Employment,

Federal Ministry of Labour & Employment,

Federal Secretariat,

Abuja.

Dear Sir,

A CALL FOR REVIEW OF COVID-19 SPECIAL ALLOWANCE AND NEGOTIATION TEAM

The Nigerian Union of Allied Health Professionals wishes to appreciate President Muhammadu Buhari (GCFR) for heeding to our requests through the Presidential Task Force on the need to provide Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for our members who are on the frontline of the management of COVID-19. More so, we are glad to know that the Government was doing something on our Hazard allowance as a result of this pandemic as requested by the union.

Haven said this, the union wishes to register its displeasure over

  1. The composition of the negotiation team as announced on the 21st April, 2020 after the meeting of the Federal Government team with some representatives of the health sector Professional Associations (NMA, NANNM and PSN) while leaving out the core Health, Sector Unions (NUAHP, MHWUN, SSAUTHRIAI and NASU) who had been mandated by the Labour Law to negotiate welfare issues as it pertains to their members. We call for a review of the process in other to ensure fair treatment and equal opportunity in consonance with the international labour organization conventions 100 and 111 and other extant labour laws.
