REGISTRAR’S DECEMBER 2021 UPDATE FROM THE REGISTRY

Season’s greetings!!

On behalf of the management and staff of the Pharmacists Council of Nigeria, I am delighted to welcome you all to the last month of 2021. The month of celebration, joy, and stock taking for every sector of the economy, governance, and personal achievement(s) in the health and non-health sector both in Nigeria and globally.

I believe that the challenges experienced in the course of the year serve as an opportunity for improvement in the coming year 2022 and beyond.  It is my prayer that we all step into the New Year in good health and better commitment to our noble responsibilities.

Stakeholders are to note that from January 2022, the PCN would commence the registration of Pharmaceutical Representatives and Sales Representatives in the country, these categories of practitioners would be issued a biannual license by the Council.

In the month of November 2021, two hundred and eighty-one (281) fresh Pharmacy graduates from Faculty of Pharmacy/Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Port-Harcourt, Rivers State; University of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State; Gombe State University, Gombe; Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Kaduna State; and Delta State University, Abraka were inducted into the Pharmacy profession. Please join me in congratulating and welcoming them to our noble profession of Pharmacy.

Re-accreditation visits were undertaken to the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Benin, Edo State from November 15 – 18, 2021, Gombe State University, Gombe from November 22 – 26, 2021, and Kaduna State University on November 29, 2021

I am pleased to inform you that the result of the Second Cycle FPGOP has been released, and the induction of successful candidates is scheduled to hold on December 16, 2021.

The PCN delegation is among the participants in the ongoing 2021 Special National Council of Health Meeting organized by the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH), in collaboration with the Health and Human Services Secretariat, Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), Abuja, at Chida Hotel, Utako District which commenced on Monday, November 29, 2021.

Let me at this juncture, on behalf of the PCN Governing Council, Management and Staff congratulate the newly elected President of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN), Prof. Cyril Odianose Usifoh, FPSN, and the EXCO members for their success at the polls during the 93rd Annual National Conference of our noble society tagged ‘Garden City, 2021’. It is our prayers that God would grant you all a very successful tenure.

Finally, I wish to appreciate all Pharmacists for effectively discharging their professional responsibilities at this critical and challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic. I trust that sooner than later the battle against this dreaded virus would be won.

To this end also, I wish to bring to your notice, that PCN has implemented the digital list of registered Pharmacists and Premises which has been published and is live on the PCN website.  The steps to access the list is as follows:

  • Click on verification and click on verify pharmacist
  • Type the criteria such as first name or last name or middle name or registration number of the pharmacist and.
  • Click search.

If the pharmacist is registered with PCN irrespective of license status, the pharmacist’s basic information would be displayed. Then you click details for the license history of the pharmacist to be displayed.
