Job Title: Production Pharmacist
Location: Igando, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Summary
The Production Pharmacist is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing pharmaceutical manufacturing activities in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), company SOPs, and regulatory requirements. The role ensures that products are produced efficiently, safely, and meet required quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Production Operations:
- Supervise daily pharmaceutical production activities.
- Ensure adherence to approved batch manufacturing records (BMR).
- Monitor dispensing, granulation, compression, coating, filling, and packaging processes.
- Ensure production targets are met within timelines.
Compliance & Quality:
- Ensure strict compliance with GMP, SOPs, and regulatory guidelines.
- Review and complete batch documentation accurately.
- Investigate and report deviations, non-conformances, and incidents.
- Support internal and external audits and inspections.
Documentation:
- Prepare and review batch manufacturing and packing records.
- Maintain accurate production logs and reports.
- Ensure timely documentation of all production activities.
Equipment & Process Management:
- Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of production equipment.
- Coordinate equipment qualification and calibration.
- Monitor environmental conditions in production areas.
Team Supervision:
- Supervise production operators and technicians.
- Train production staff on SOPs and GMP requirements.
- Ensure proper shift handover and workforce discipline.
Health, Safety & Hygiene:
- Enforce safety, hygiene, and housekeeping standards.
- Ensure proper use of PPE in production areas.
- Report any safety hazards immediately.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify process improvement opportunities.
- Support validation activities (process validation, cleaning validation).
- Participate in cost reduction and efficiency initiatives.

- Batch right-first-time rate
- Production target achievement
- GMP compliance score
- Deviation closure timeline
- Documentation accuracy
- Equipment downtime.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm)
- Valid Pharmacist license (PCN registration if in Nigeria)
- 2–5 years’ experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing (preferred)
- Strong knowledge of GMP and regulatory requirements
- Good documentation and leadership skills
- Proficiency in MS Office.
