NANDA-I Advocacy Group 2016 Workshop on NANDA-I, NIC and NOC Application in Clinical Practice

Posted on: Thu 25-02-2016

Nurses are key players in ensuring positive health outcomes for consumers of health care and nursing process is the model for nursing care.

Though Nursing process provides an efficient method to ensure quality individualized patient care, changes and new developments in health care delivery have given rise to the need for a common framework of communication to ensure continuity of care for the patients that move between multiple health care settings and providers. This need requires the use of standardized languages.

The use of standardized nursing languages in diagnosing, planning, implementing, evaluatiing and documenting patient care will promote understanding among nurses and by other healthcare professionals and will also afford nurses the opportunity to be focused in their practice.

NANDA-I, NIC and NOC (NNN) are standardized nursing languages that are comprehensively designed for use across settings, they have linkages and provide the content and knowledge used in the nursing process.

Knowledge and use of NANDA-I, NIC and NOC in documenting nursing process will promote greater adherence to the standards of care adn thus improve patient care. It will further the nursing research agenda and help in identification of best practice and efficeincy in nursing care. These benefit inspired the formation of the NANDA-I, NIC and NOC Advocacy Group.

The NANDA-I, NIC and NOC Advocacy group consist of lecturers from the department of nursing science and nurse clinicians who are concerened about the non use of the NNN and have as their goal, "to promote the use of NNN in providing and documenting nursing care" we hope to achieve this goal through training workshops and monitoring for compliance/ implementation as well as research.
