Water is one of the most inaccessible basic needs of the Nigerian population. UNICEF data suggests that 50 per cent of the people do not have access to safe and potable drinking water.

The impact of running this program is that over 2.2 million people are ensured safe water. TCF’s Water Programme is focused on the Concept of Village Level Operation and Maintenance (VLOM) by:

. Capacity building of WASHCOMs on preventive maintenance and managing their water sources,
. Establishing linkages to a local supply chain for high quality reasonably prices fast moving hand pump spare-parts.

TCF has covered 175 Local Government Areas in 27 States and executed village level operation and maintenance (VLOM) of hand-pumps by rehabilitating over 4,448 non-functional hand-pumps with the successful completion of UNICEF supported PCA 6, PCA 7 was initiated.

Mission For Vision
Nigerian National Blindness and Visual Impairment Survey conducted in 2007 suggest that two out of every three Nigerians are blind. Blindness does not only hinder quality of life of the person but impact socio - economic condition of family, community and the Nation.

According to experts, “If priority attention is not given, the number of blind and severely visually impaired adults in Nigeria will increase by greater than 40 per cent over the next decade”. Through the Mission for Vision program, TCF has conducted more than 105,000 free eye surgeries in the 5 hospitals across Nigeria. TCF currently performs more than 5000 eye surgeries in its centres in Kebbi and Calabar. The centres in Yola, Owerri and Katsina are now being managed by Nigerian staff trained by TCF. Presently, in Nigeria the Foundation is managing three well established eye centres at:
• Calabar Eye Centre, Calabar City, Cross River State
• Owerri Eye Programme, Imo State
• Kebbi Hafsat Eye Centre, Kebbi Bernin City, Kebbi State

TCF aims to reduce avoidable blindness, predominantly cataract, among the rural poor of Nigeria by providing high quality free surgeries.
. Focus on surgical treatment of cataract with intra-ocular lens implantation
. Provide service to those who would otherwise be unable to access quality eye care
. Draw from the vast experience in Community Eye Care in India where its sister organizations are engaged in performing over 180000 free eye surgeries annually
. Modern surgical techniques using state of the art equipment
. Maximizing utilization of Government infrastructure thus saving unnecessary duplication and expense.
