•  Drug research scientists and research investigators
•  Postgraduate students in Biomedical and Basic Science disciplines such as Pharmacy, Medicine, Pharmacology, Biochemistry, Physiology, Zoology, Microbiology, etc.
•  Others, who want hands-on exposure on molecular biology techniques with respect to drug discovery and development

Locations: * Faculty of Pharmacy *Genetic and Bioethics Unit-Institute for Advanced Medical Research & Training (LAMRAT) University of Ibadan.

Cost: The fee is N20,000, which includes 2 tea-breaks, catered lunch, and course materials.

•  The Centre for Drug Discovery, Development and Production (CDDDP), is a MacArthur Foundation funded Centre of Excellence at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Ibadan, set up in 2012 as a platform for world-class training in drug discovery, discovery, development, production and medicine regulation as well as provide opportunities and sevices for research and development of quality medicines that meet the specific needs of Nigeria, sub-Saharan Africa and the whole of Africa in general.

•  The Centre, which MacArthur Foundation refers to as the *First of its Kind in Africa* was designated by New Partnership for African Development (NEPAD)/African Medicine Regulation Harmonization (AMRH) in 2014 as one of the ten Regional Centres of Regulatory Excellence (RCORE in Africa with the oversight functions for
 i.  training on regulatory science
ii. development of clinical trial oversight structures and clinical trial experitise and
iii. Improvement on quality assurance/quality control (OA/OCI)to attain international accreditation

The African Institute of Biomedical Science and Technology (AIBST) is a hybrid institute with elements companies to enable it to operate in an environment which still requires capacity and capability building with respect to skilled manpower and research infrastruture, at the same time be translation researcb oriented to deliver on medical products and services that address African's healthcare challenges, it is located in Harare, Zimbabwe.

Pharmacogenetics is an area of personalized medicine that aims to provide safer, more efficient, and customized drug therapies based on an individual's uniques genetic (i.e, DNA) profile, Drugs often are given as "one size fits all," but do not work the same way for everyone. The goal is to allow the development of tailored drugs to treat a wide range of health promblems, including cardiovascular disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and a host of other chronic diseases

Overal learning objective: THis workshop serves to make of case for Africa by exploring the poteritial role of pharmacogenetics in the use of drugs developed and optimized in Caucasian populations when used in pharmacogenetics and pharmacikinetics in the treatment of infectious diseases of which malaria, TB, HIV/AIDS are the leading causes of mobidity and mortality on the continent
